Residents of Sale’s nursing home celebrated their 100th birthday and revealed the secret to their longevity.
Herbert Finney, named Bert of Oakfield Croft in Oakfield, celebrated an impressive milestone on Monday, January 9 as he toasted the special occasion surrounded by his family, residents and team members.
Bart, who has revealed the secret to a long and happy life, is known locally for his love of football and sense of humor.
Enjoying the special day with a birthday cake and lots of special gifts, the team threw a grand party for Bart to enjoy a memorable celebration.
Oakfield Croft Home Manager Daniel Cole said:
“Bert has lived in Oakfield Croft for less than a year and it’s safe to say the house wouldn’t be the same without him.
“Here at Oakfield Croft, we always try to create birthday occasions and Bart’s 100th birthday was no exception. We had so much fun decorating the house and baking a special birthday cake.” am.”

Burt was born and raised in Ardwick, Greater Manchester in 1923.
Attending school at Ardwick, Bart became an Engineer Officer in the Merchant Navy in 1939, overseeing the maintenance of the entire ship.
Bart later took up a teaching career, retiring at the age of 62 after eight years teaching engineering at the University of Manchester.
Bert met his wife, Betty, and the two were married in 1947.
The couple shared a lifetime of happy memories and had two children, Robin and Brenda. The pair marked a special marriage of 75 years together before Betty sadly passed away in 2022.
The Oakfield Croft Care Home consists of a series of individual suites, each with its own lounge, as well as facilities such as a cinema, coffee shop and hair salon.
