Pittsburgh (KDKA) – Children usually request a toy or two on their birthdays, and older children may request clothes or gift cards.
But what if your child asks for donations?
Sophie Kratsas is a junior in Peters Township and started doing this a few years ago because her birthday is very close to the holidays.
Instead of asking for more toys, she asked people to give them back.
Sophie just turned 9 and in her 4th year of fundraising, she chose ‘Dress for Success’. She also started this effort by creating a PowerPoint presentation on why she chose them.
In the past, he has raised money for soup kitchens, animal shelters, and Meals on Wheels.
She originally set a goal of reaching $1,000, but has now surpassed that goal.
On top of that, for her actual birthday, she asked for personal care items and accessories.
She then provided an update on Facebook.
“Hey guys, thank you for helping me with Dress for Success. “We are raising,” she said.
The plan is for Sophie to bring and organize physical donations to Dress for Success.
Dress for Success said it’s strange and that “giving can happen at any age,” and she’s making an impact.
You can help Sophie by donating on her Facebook page at this link.
