New Year’s Eve is usually thought of as a “grown-up” holiday, but it’s really fun to celebrate with the kids. Even better.

Let’s make 2023 the year of good decisions. Sign up for our bi-weekly newsletter for tips, reviews and more from our experts.

There are tons of fun ideas for kid-friendly New Year’s Eve. Hit the strokes of midnight with kid-friendly mocktails and festive photo booths, or celebrate New Year’s Eve at noon and head out to an adult party a few hours later.

Whatever your family’s case, here are some of our favorite ways to celebrate your kids’ New Year’s Eve parties in a fun way and start a completely kid-friendly New Year.

1. Celebrate with the British: receive live streams from another time zone

Celebrate midnight with friends across the pond.

A fun way to experience all the pomp and circumstance of a New Year’s Eve countdown without the brutal bedtime is to stream another city’s ball drop. live streams are so exciting for kids to watch. Keep an eye on #fireworksLondon (or follow this link for the BBC live stream).

For those on the West Coast, it’s as easy as queuing up New York City or your local East Coast affiliate station.

2. Countdown with Characters: Watch Countdowns for Kids on Netflix

Kids will enjoy counting down to 2023 with their favorite movie and TV characters.

If your child isn’t into Ryan Seacrest or the big city live countdown, cue their favorite character and keep it simple. Netflix has a selection of character-driven New Year’s countdowns filled with confetti, fun fireworks, and notable kids favorites like Boss Baby and Spirit the horse.

3. Build a photo booth: Get a photo backdrop and props

A photo booth with fun props is always a good time.

You can keep it simple for a cute, customizable backdrop by purchasing rolls of kraft paper that kids can decorate with glitter, shimmering pom-poms, and gold lettering. You can kick it up a notch with backdrops and New Year’s Eve photo props.

Either way, it’s going to be a celebration, and the end-of-year snaps are sure to be something special.

4. Noon Party: Have a mock midnight

celebrate at 12pm "New Year's Eve noon" Alternatively, you can tweak your celebration a few hours in advance.

For small children, there is a warm memory of the celebration of “Noon New Year’s Eve” just before nap time. For older kids, we’re fans of the “it’s midnight somewhere” approach. Both are perfect for a children’s New Year’s Eve party celebration.

Choose a (somewhat) age-appropriate bedtime and create a festive midnight moment. For our family, 10pm is the sweet spot when our son starts to feel tired, but before he is possessed by the sleep demon. will be refreshed and energized at the beginning of the new year.

5. Organize a Kid-friendly Cocktail Hour: Spend the night with your favorite food

Find a variety of goodies your child will love.

New Year’s Eve is a night to reflect on the years gone by. Children change from year to year. How about a night to celebrate your favorite children? Let them come up with a menu for dinner!

Sure, you might be eating potato chips or Twizzlers, but what a great way to incorporate enough of their favorites into an annual tradition so you can write down how it changes from year to year. It’s a fun kickoff. If you invite friends, you can make it potluck style, where each child brings their favorite food to share.

6. Don’t Skimp on Celebration: Dress Up

Dress up! You feel more festive and the kids look like admirers.

You may not be out on the town, but you can still feel special. Invite the kids to the party in fancy clothes. Prepare a cute New Year’s crown to make you feel like royalty.

For some very special guy, Janie and Jack is one of our favorite kids’ clothing brands. From golden dresses for girls to adorable holiday suits and sweaters for boys, you’ll find the most festive items for kids.

Take lots of pictures and share them.

7. Make Noise: Get New Year’s Noise Maker

Celebrate New Year's Eve this year with fun sounds!

They don’t call it “getting in the new year for free”. It’s not a party without noise makers. I like these things in festive black and gold.

Children love to make a lot of fanfare with the sound whenever the clock strikes, whether it’s really midnight or midnight.

8. Get creative and crafty: Year Cheer New Year’s Eve Box

Year Cheer is in charge of all party plans for families!

9. Host a dance party: Get this bubble machine and dance lights.

Find a kid who doesn't like dancing in Bubble Wonderland.

Create a playlist that kids will love to join on the dance floor, but keep it for grown-ups (you don’t have to dance to Wiggles tonight). Get glowing sticks and glowing necklaces to set the mood. You can also invest in inexpensive dance floor lights and bubble machines.

It may have been years since you were last on the dance floor, but tonight is the night to brush off your dance moves.

10. Spend a Movie Night: Stream New Year’s Movies on Disney+ or Apple TV

Celebrate with Peanuts and Pooh movies!

There’s nothing like ringing in the new year with an annual movie night. 24 minute Peanuts gang classic happy new year charlie brown Perfect for little ones who want to party but can’t watch the full feature film.

Highly recommend this incredibly sweet 1 hour event Winnie the Pooh: Very Merry Pooh YearBoth movies are streaming and ready to queue.

11. Project on the Wall: Get the Anker Nebula Mars II Portable Projector

Fun Fact: The projection screen also acts as a stage for finger puppets.

Whether you’re watching a short movie or a long countdown, project it on the wall for all your party guests to see and make it feel like an event. Plus, you can keep the festivities going instead of cramming everyone on the couch. .

Our expert testers’ favorite portable projector is the Anker Nebula Mars II. This projector comes with popular streaming apps like Netflix, YouTube and Amazon Prime Video right out of the box. Just connect Mars II to your Wi-Fi network and you’re good to go. Togo. Mars II also comes with a small remote control so you can operate the software from a distance.

12. Pour the Bubbles: Try Töst’s Non-Alcoholic Champagne

Our experts have tested 7 non-alcoholic champagnes. Many people find it delicious, but I think Töst is the most child-friendly.

Keeping it kid-friendly doesn’t mean you have to skimp on the toast.

Senior Cooking Writer Monica Petrucci highly recommends Tost, a completely alcohol-free alternative to Champagne. Made from a zero-proof blend of white tea, cranberry concentrate, and ginger extract, Petrucci and Kitchen & Cooking editor Daniel Desiato describe it as “a more refined version of his cider, sparkling too sweet to buy for the kids.” doing.

Kids will love it. you will love it Cheers everyone!

13. Cheers: Get a champagne flute that doesn’t splatter

Nothing sets the festive mood like a mocktail.

Whatever you choose to toast, we recommend pouring it into these elegant yet splash-free champagne flutes. I love it to be glamorous and sparkly, so it looks effervescent, even when I’m pouring apple juice on it.

Add some yummy gummies to make it look even more glamorous and a little more sophisticated.

14. Throw Your Own Ball: Get the New Year’s Ball Pinata

How about a ball drop for kids? This will grind in 12 strokes. Or you can do it whenever you want to celebrate.

They may not get to see the actual holiday ball drop, but honestly, it’s kind of a climax either way. Crushing a piñata with the stroke of “midnight” is much more fun and festive. We love this shimmering disco ball piñata that’s very likely Ryan Seacrest-approved and festive.

Fill it up with candy and toys to help your kids plunge into 2023.
