
Program Plan — Sycamore Youth Center, 301 N. Fourth St., Steubenville will host the MLK Youth and Children Celebration/Community Service Day on January 16th. Johnny’s Boston and Jaquan Lavender.
Steubenville — The successful Master Chef at Johnny’s Boston’s Columbus, originally from Steubenville, returns as the keynote speaker for MLK Youth and Children’s Celebration/Community Service Day on January 16th.
The overall celebration will take place from 10am to 3pm at the Sycamore Youth Center (301 N. Fourth St.) in Steubenville.
Boston, who grew up in the South End of Steubenville, will be cooking meals for students at the Sycamore Youth Center, with special guests JaQuan Lavender: The Journey to Gold of the JaQuan Lavender Foundation and Steve Forte of Sycamore Corps Mentoring. According to Center Director Bobbyjon Bauman, they will share a brief presentation on their mentoring program.
Entertainment is provided by Overall Winners of Valley’s Got Talent, 2014 Elisha Fletcher and 2021 Lindsay Ensel, and CBE 180 Hip Hop.gene “Minister of Truth” Shelby, hip hop. JR Lawrence Lewis, hip hop. And Jasmine Wooden, Mime.
Community service projects take place at Urban Mission Ministries, Sycamore Youth Center, and Hilltop Children’s House.

“This event is geared towards kindergarten through 12th grade, but everyone is welcome to attend.” Baumann explained.
The no-reservation, free event is sponsored by the MLK Association, led by President Jim Beiber, and the Sycamore Youth Center.
Here is the program schedule:
≤ 10am-11am: youth performers (rappers, dancers, mimes;
≤ 11am to 11:30am: Presentation by Boston.
