Marissa Perez, a pregnant woman, was brutally shot dead by a stranger on December 29, 2022 while on her way to a birthday party. In the aftermath of her tragic death, her family launched her GoFundMe page to raise money to cover its costs.
Marissa Perez was due to give birth in June 2023, according to a fundraiser set up by the parents of the 25-year-old California woman. Her mother, Sandra Tolentino, told the media that Perez was shot multiple times, including once in her head.
The GoFundMe fundraiser was organized by Priscilla Romero in hopes of providing love and support to her family during this difficult time. Fundraiser describes Perez as loving and outgoing. The page description says:
“Marissa was the most loving daughter, sister, cousin, friend…anyone who knew Marissa knew she was the most loyal, affectionate, sociable and strongest person.” Thank you to everyone who has reached out for our family during this difficult time. Put it down please.”
The fundraiser has raised over $33,000 through the contributions of nearly 500 donors.
How did Marissa Perez die? No arrests made in fatal shooting
Marissa Perez, 25, was killed at around 7:30 pm on December 29, 2022 in what authorities believed was a targeted shooting. .
Perez reportedly took the passenger seat of her father’s car on her way to buy a birthday cake for her aunt when a strange man driving the car stopped right next to her and opened fire on her. After the attack, she was taken to a local hospital but was pronounced dead. Her unborn child also did not survive the brutal attack.

Marissa Perez’s mother, Sandra Tolentino, told ABC7:
“She was 25. She was about to become a mother in five months. She was very happy. I want justice for my daughter. I want justice for my grandson.” ”
Perez’s brother, Isaac Tolentino, told KTLA that his sister is looking forward to having children with her boyfriend.
“She was so excited and looked like a whole new person. I’ve never seen my sister shine so bright.”
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department believes Marissa Perez’s death was a targeted attack. However, the motive behind the drive-by shooting is still unknown. No arrests have been made.
The grieving 25-year-old’s family has asked the public to provide information that would allow police to identify the suspect.
