
A new gourmet popcorn shop will open at the Seven Corners shopping center next year.
Coming from the team behind Jake’s Ice Cream in Falls Church, Jake’s Gourmet Popcorn is set to open next year at 6201 Seven Corners Center, adjacent to Michael’s.
Owner Robin Linearson, a Fairfax County resident and former optometrist, will open his Falls Church ice cream shop in August 2021.
Ice cream isn’t on the menu at the new location, but the team will continue its commitment to hiring people with disabilities, Rinearson told FFXnow.The initiative offers internships, a pathway to paid employment. Partnership with the Arlington Program for Employment Readiness.
“I decided to expand my business because the waiting list for employment at an ice cream parlor was so long,” Riniason said in a statement. It was block by block. There is nothing in this area right now. It’s time to start. I like a challenge.”
The ice cream parlor is named after Rinearson’s 29-year-old nephew, who has cerebral palsy and has worked for the company for several years. WUSA 9 featured businesses that are gaining regional and national attention for their business models.
Jake’s will feature flavors such as Kettle Corn, Caramel Corn, Cheddar Cheese, Buffalo Wings and Ranch, BBQ, Maple Bacon, Lemon Pound Cake, Birthday Cake, Oreo, and Strawberry.
Patrons of the event can also make special flavor requests, and seasonal flavors will be available.
Rinearson’s niece and husband (both architects) are designing the new shop. It is scheduled to open in late winter or early spring 2023.
