Parties for kids may have been on the back burner during the pandemic, but they have never gone out of fashion. Virginia Edelson Frischkorn made it easier than ever with her latest attempt, her Partytrick.
Frischkorn is one of the top event planners. Even Martha Stewart Weddings, Vogue, and Brides have recognized her work. A native of Colorado, she is a single mother of two and is the founder of Bluebird Productions and she is the Aspen Picnic Companies. Talk to her Frischkorn, who has over a decade of party planning experience for her top kids’ parties for 2023.

Children’s party trends
Frischkorn, mother of 6 and 8 year olds, has noticed that her children’s parties are getting bigger and bigger each year. She believes practical themes will be important.
“I think trends in 2023 will be more interactive,” said Frischkorn. “For example, face jewelry and tattoos, hair ornaments and braids, throwing a party for the kids there with someone to do an extravagant scavenger hunt.”
Scavenger hunts are always a hit with kids of all ages. Frischkorn recommends making the scavenger hunt a big, but popular theme, like an Easter egg hunt. She recently hosted a super-fun event featuring a Pokémon scavenger hunt, and in addition to scavenger hunts, Frischkorn feels she’ll have more fairy and forest themes in 2023.
party food for kids
As a mother, Frischkorn knows that simple is always best when it comes to party food for kids. Just because it’s simple doesn’t mean it’s not delicious. Frischkorn is a big proponent of “good” food. What is delicious food? A way to eat that looks and tastes great. Frischkorn suggests trying these tempting foods on your child’s next birthday.
ants on a log
This is a cute and healthy party snack for kids. Frischkorn suggests modifying the usual recipe to make ants on logs with celery, sun butter and dried mango.
popcorn ball
Kids love popcorn and popcorn balls are an easy snack to match any party theme.
fruit skewers
Parents want a healthy snack at their birthday party, so fruit skewers are very appealing. Frischkorn recommends dressing up your delicious fruit skewers with a stylish stir stick with a fun tassel on the tip.
popsicle
Popsicles are another kid-approved party favorite. Although not with my parents due to confusion. But it’s a party, so it’s okay to indulge. Frischkorn realizes that unlike his cakes and cupcakes, popsicles cannot attend parties. Instead, keep it in the freezer until it’s time to sing for the guest of honor to keep it from melting. Another way to avoid melting is to have a popsicle cart or truck at your party. Frischkorn has used this service at one of her events in the past.
