If you’ve been watching C-SPAN regularly, you’ve had an exciting week voting for the new Speaker of the House.
I had a really great week despite the incredibly gray weather. celebrated another birthday. Her sister from LA was in town earlier in the week so we went to Port Townsend for lunch at Doc’s and the next day we traveled to Edmonds to join her daughter at “Chanterelle”. We enjoyed our lunch.
On Sunday, my family and I took the Kaleetan Ferry again to Edmonds to celebrate my birthday. I don’t remember seeing that Edmonds ferry running before. I need to go out more. This year too, it’s appropriate to recognize that Don Whipple, Peggy Klum, Elvis Presley, and other celebrities will be celebrating their birthdays with enthusiasm on January 8th. At least I hope so.
For us, my birthday usually marks the end of the holiday season and the beginning of the decorating process. At least the internal ones do. It was the year of “light”.
The sports scene is doing well as the Seahawks made it to the NFL playoffs with the help of the Detroit Lions. They will face the San Francisco 49ers on Saturday, and a win would qualify him to face the best team in the NFC, the Eagles, a week later.
The Kansas City Chiefs are the best team in the AFC, so they got the first week off, as did the Eagles.
KC quarterback Patrick Mahomes set an NFL record for 5,614 total yards. Baltimore Ravens linebacker Justin Houston allegedly paid the quarterback a $500,000 bonus by changing his one sack to half his sack.
So why not round up and get the guy $500,000?
College football fans know that TCU’s Horned Frogs faced the Georgia Bulldogs in the NCAA title game on Monday. That match happened after the submission deadline for this column, so I can’t report on the results.
I was rooting for the TCU thanks to their beefy quarterback Max Duggan and their mascot named “Super Frog.”
For the record, I didn’t go to Wabash College because it’s a “little giant,” but I’m one of them.
I saw TCU play in the title game with odds of 200 to 1 against them. Hey, those odds are better than Mega Millions, but the Mega payoff is around $1 billion!
On the topic of big money, what about that Elon Musk? He’s reportedly lost $182 billion since November 2021.
Don’t worry, friends. This is just a “paper” loss.
